The exam type and mode will determine access to notes, outlines, and other materials located on hard drives and\/or the Internet. Depending on exam instructions, students may be required to print materials in advance, including notes and outlines.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll receive a unique Exam Number each semester. Bring this number to every exam \u2014 you can find it in the <a href=\"https:\/\/zdapi.appointlink.com\/ZDConvert\/AutoLaunch\/2611\/37647397\/206\/Comp\/login=shib%7Cidp=https:(s)(s)shibb-idp.georgetown.edu(s)idp(s)shibboleth%7Czdapp=es\">Exam Paper Management System<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Students may complete in-class exams by submitting a handwritten response or by using a personal laptop.<\/p>\n<p>Handwritten exam answers must be recorded in an exam booklet provided by an exam proctor.\u00a0 Students should plan to ask the proctor for an exam booklet before the exam begins.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Students Completing Exams by Laptop<\/h2>\n<p>Students cannot use more than one laptop in an in-class exam.\u00a0 Additional electronic devices are not permitted.\u00a0 Electronic translation dictionaries must be approved by the Office of the Registrar.\u00a0 Calculators are permitted if specified in the exam instructions.<\/p>\n<p>Read the Exam4 instructions and materials on the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/academics\/academic-resources\/registrar\/general-exam-information\/\">General Exam Information<\/a>\u201d webpage.\u00a0 We strongly encourage you to attend an Exam Information Session.<\/p>\n<p>Download the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.exam4.com\/org\/1521\">Exam4 Software Application<\/a> to the computer on which you plan to take your exam(s) at least 48 hours before the administration of your first exam of the semester.\u00a0 The Exam4 software should be downloaded once per academic term, even if you are scheduled to take an exam in separate time periods\u00a0 (e.g., the October take-home exam period and the December exam period).<\/p>\n<p>Practice exams are strongly encouraged.\u00a0 Students should run the practice exam in multiple exam modes, especially CLOSED mode, to confirm that Exam4 is compatible with your exam laptop.\u00a0 You can take an unlimited number of practice tests.\u00a0 Please utilize your exam number to take your practice exams.\u00a0 Do NOT wait until the day of the exam to take your practice test.\u00a0 <strong>You will not be able to retrieve the content of your practice exam.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have any technical problems or questions that arise during your practice test, please contact Exam4 User Support via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exam4.com\/support\">www.exam4.com\/support<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">On Exam Day<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Late Arrival:<\/strong> Students who arrive late to an in-class examination may not enter the room once the proctor has placed the \u201cExamination in Progress\u201d sign on the exam room door.\u00a0 If a student arrives and the sign is on the door, the student must immediately proceed to the Office of the Registrar\u2019s table, located in the atrium on the 2nd Floor of McDonough Hall, for assistance.\u00a0 The student has the following options:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Registrar will advise the student of the right to take the examination during the remaining scheduled examination time with no grade penalty and, if that option is selected, escort the student to the examination room<\/li>\n<li>If the remaining time is insufficient to complete the examination, or the student chooses to reschedule the examination, the student will be treated under section 2 of the Late Arrivals and Missed Examinations policy in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/academics\/academic-resources\/registrar\/student-handbook\/\">Georgetown Law Student Handbook<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Room Assignments:<\/strong> The room locations will be posted 30 minutes before the start of the exams on the Registrar\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/academics\/academic-resources\/registrar\/general-exam-information\/exam-room-assignment\/\">website<\/a> and on TV monitors on the 2nd Floor of McDonough, the Cafeteria, and the Sport &amp; Fitness Lobby.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seating Arrangement:<\/strong>\u00a0Students are required to sit in every other seat during an exam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In-Class Exam Announcement:<\/strong> The Exam Video Announcement will play in all exam rooms at the designated times and will provide additional exam administration information.\u00a0 If the exam video fails to play, the proctor will read the Exam Announcement aloud.\u00a0 Please click here for the <a href=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/145503658\">video<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Transcription-of-the-Exam-Video_FINAL-7-13-2018.pdf\">video transcript<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Questions:<\/strong>\u00a0All questions should be directed to the proctors.\u00a0 Students may not communicate with other students during the exam.\u00a0 If you believe there is an error, inconsistency, or omission in the exam, please state your assumptions about the issue within your discussion of that issue.\u00a0 No clarifications or corrections will be provided.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exam Materials:<\/strong>\u00a0Students are not permitted to remove any exam materials from the room during the exam or bring in any additional materials once the signal to begin the exam has been given.\u00a0 You may leave the exam room for short periods of time, but you will not be given extra time for absences.\u00a0 The use of external scratch paper is prohibited.\u00a0 Any notes taken during the exam should be on the exam itself or on the scratch paper handed out by the proctors.\u00a0 These materials will be collected at the end of the exam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emergency Procedures:<\/strong>\u00a0If the fire alarm sounds, you must exit the building immediately.\u00a0 Leave all exam materials in the classroom.\u00a0 Laptop users may take their computers with them but they must close them and may not reopen them until instructed.\u00a0 The proctor will stop the exam and write the time of the interruption on the board.\u00a0 You may not discuss the exam during the emergency.\u00a0 The proctor will add the lost time as a result of the emergency to the exam end time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>\u00a0If a problem arises during the administration of an in-class exam, such as the sudden onset of an illness or a computer malfunction, please notify the proctor\u00a0<em>immediately<\/em>\u00a0and follow the proctor\u2019s instructions.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">After the Exam<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Once an exam is submitted for grading, no requests to add or revise a word or character count will be accepted.\u00a0 No amendments or supplements will be permitted or accepted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exams at the Law Center are graded on an anonymous basis.\u00a0 The Student Disciplinary Code provides that the \u201cunauthorized breach of anonymity in connection with a blind-graded examination\u201d is a disciplinary violation.\u00a0 DO NOT reveal your identity as the author of an examination in your answers themselves, in any communications with the professor, or otherwise discuss the substance of the exam with your professor(s) or with any other student from the time the exam is first administered until after grades are published.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Reminders<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Official time<\/strong> will be kept by the exam proctors.\u00a0 The proctors will start the exam; maintain a record of the official time; provide exam-specific instructions; and give verbal 5-minute and 2-minute warnings before calling time at the end of the exam.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Calculators<\/strong>\u00a0may be used during exams only if a professor has specifically authorized their use.\u00a0 Because laptop usage may be restricted, students are strongly advised to have a separate calculator rather than relying upon one installed on a laptop.\u00a0 Likewise, a cellphone or mobile device may not be used in lieu of a calculator.\u00a0 Students may not share calculators or any other exam materials.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cell Phones<\/strong> must be turned off completely and placed out of sight; they may not be used as calculators or timepieces during the exam.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Translation Dictionaries\u00a0<\/strong>may be used during open-book, closed-book, and limited material exams by students for whom English is a second language.\u00a0 The device must be approved by the Office of the Registrar staff before the exam.\u00a0 Because laptop usage is often restricted, students are strongly advised to have a separate electronic translation dictionary rather than relying upon one installed on a laptop.\u00a0 Students may not share translation dictionaries or any other exam materials.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Earplugs<\/strong> are provided for your exam, and you may use earplugs to block out sound, but you may not use any headphones, earpieces, or other devices that produce sound.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>A student who fails to comply with their obligations during the administration of an exam may be subject to disciplinary proceedings.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All Students At least one business day before your exam, the exam length and the professor\u2019s instructions about what materials or resources you may access will be posted in EPMS.
