Georgetown Law offers the opportunity for a small number of LL.M. students to participate in the LL.M. \u2013 London Option. Students in this program will spend the fall semester at Georgetown Law in the heart of Washington, D.C., and the spring semester at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies<\/span>(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><\/span><\/a> (CTLS) in London, United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

CTLS is a unique program bringing together students from 23 law schools around the world. Students and faculty spend a semester in London focusing on international, comparative and transnational law in a diverse and multicultural setting. The LL.M. \u2013 London Option allows students to expand their networks to include not only the classmates and professors they will meet in Washington, D.C., but also those who they will meet at CTLS and London, United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Eligibility<\/h2>\n

Foreign-trained attorneys interested in pursuing either the LL.M. in General Studies<\/span>(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><\/span><\/a> or LL.M. in International Legal Studies<\/span>(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0as full-time students are eligible for the LL.M. \u2013 London Option.<\/p>\n

Admissions<\/h2>\n

To apply, applicants should submit the regular application<\/span>(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><\/span><\/a> for the LL.M. in General Studies or LL.M. in International Legal Studies, and check the box indicating their interest in the LL.M. \u2013 London Option.<\/p>\n

If you have already submitted your application to a Georgetown LL.M. program and wish to be considered for the LL.M. \u2013 London Option, email the Office of Graduate Admissions at lawllmadmis@georgetown.edu to indicate and express your interest.<\/p>\n

Program Requirements<\/h2>\n

Students in the LL.M. \u2013 London Option have the same full-time program requirements as students who are studying the LL.M. in General Studies<\/span>(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><\/span><\/a> or LL.M. in International Legal Studies<\/span>(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0in Washington, D.C. for the academic year. The main difference is the spring semester, where LL.M. \u2013 London Option students will take coursework at CTLS.<\/p>\n

CTLS coursework will be applied to fulfill the total credit requirement for the LL.M. in General Studies<\/span>(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><\/span><\/a>, and specialization credit requirement for the LL.M. in International Legal Studies<\/span>(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Special Considerations<\/h2>\n

Because half of the LL.M. \u2013 London Option experience will be outside of the United States, there are some limitations to consider in terms of opportunities that are usually available for full-time LL.M. students studying in Washington, D.C. the whole academic year. LL.M. \u2013 London Option students will not be able to:<\/p>\n
