Hi! My name is Elisa Vial, and I am a Chilean-trained lawyer currently pursuing an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law at Georgetown University. Prior to Georgetown, I worked for nearly four years as a corporate associate at a law firm in Santiago, Chile, specializing in general corporate practice, M&A, and real estate transactions.
Hi! Everyone, my name is HsinYa. Prior to my LLM studies, I completed my Bachelor of Laws at Xiamen University as part of the 2020 international program. I studied abroad in the Netherlands and gained international perspectives through internships at law firms in Europe and China, focusing on contract management and IPOs.
I am now pursuing my LLM at Georgetown University, working toward a certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. I'm happy to share insights on navigating law studies, applying for an LLM, and life at GULC.
Hi! My name is Maria Eduarda and I'm a foreign-trained lawyer from Brazil, currently pursuing the General Studies LL.M. with a certificate in International Human Rights. I graduated in 2019 from PUC-SP and completed my postgraduate degree in Human Rights, Social Responsibility and Global Citizenship at PUC-RS in 2022.
I have been working with Human Rights for the last five years, dedicating myself especially to women victims of domestic violence and refugees and immigrants. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or similar interests! I will be happy to help.
I am currently a Tax LL.M. candidate at Georgetown University Law Center with a focus on international tax issues. I am a Spanish trained attorney, and I have recently obtained my Ph.D. in Law and Political Sciences at the University of Barcelona, the title of my dissertation being "Controversial issues of the Spanish Digital Services Tax". Prior to enrolling at Georgetown Law, I worked for six years at Cuatrecasas, a prestigious and well-known Spanish law firm based in Barcelona.
As a dual national of the United States and Spain, my professional and academic interests have progressed toward an international projection and I have developed a unique perspective from both an American and European point of view. However, my interest in completing a Tax LL.M. in the United States and to specialize in international taxation was triggered during a research stay I carried out from January to April of 2023 at NYU by invitation from Prof. H. David Rosenbloom; I came to recognize how it would greatly benefit my professional career.
Malena Jurado is a regulatory lawyer with over 12 years of experience in the mining and fishing industries, focusing on regulatory and corporate matters. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Universidad de Lima and is qualified to practice law in both Peru and Chile. During her time at Universidad de Lima, she served as a Teaching Assistant, fostering communication between students and faculty. In her role as Senior Regulatory Counsel for LATAM, Malena participates in community engagement projects aimed at increasing the representation of women in the mining industry.
I am Chirag Chhabra, an Indian qualified corporate transactional attorney with over 6 years of work experience. Prior to the LLM, I was working in-house with Servify, a technology startup. At Servify, I was working as a Senior Manager managing the M&A, commercial contracts, data privacy and compliance functions. I have also worked with Bharucha & Partners, an Indian law firm for 3 years with their general corporate and securities litigation practices.
I am a Costa Rican attorney with over 8 years of experience in Corporate Law and Compliance, both as external and in-house counsel. Currently pursuing an IBEL LL.M., my main interest is in how businesses and AI can be implemented respecting human rights and ethical standards.
Hi everyone! My name is Gabriel Rey. I am a Peruvian attorney. I went to law school at Universidad del Pacifico in Lima, Peru, my home country. I specialize in White Collar Crime and criminal procedure matters. Prior to pursuing my LLM at Georgetown Law, I worked for 9 years at Payet, Rey, Cauvi, Perez Abogados, a leading law firm in Peru, where I started as an intern back in 2016. Here at Georgetown I am a part of Latin American Law Students Association (LALSA), Georgetown Corporate Crime and Anti Corruption Law Students Association (CCAC) and the Georgetown Law Federalist Society. I love soccer and music!
My name is Andrea GarcÃa, and I am currently pursuing an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law with a Certificate in Securities and Financial Law. Before the fall semester, I participated in the LL.M. Summer Experience. I earned my first law degree from Universidad Santa MarÃa la Antigua in Panama City, Panama. Prior to attending Georgetown, I gained transactional experience, primarily focused on banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets. Outside of law, I enjoy singing, hosting painting nights with friends, and visiting museums and coffee shops.
Hello everyone! I'm Natalia Vargas, and I'm from Colombia. I earned my law degree from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. Throughout my career, I have been immersed in the aviation industry, working in both airport concessions and at the Colombian Ministry of Transportation. Before pursuing my LLM, I worked for the last 3 years as an Aviation Legal Affairs Coordinator at Avianca, Colombia's leading airline.
My name is Pia and I am enrolled in the LLM in International Legal Studies and the Certificate in International Human Rights. As a dual degree student, I spent the last year in Sciences Po Paris (Master in International Affairs). At GULC, I am focusing on comparative constitutional law and public international law, specifically human rights law and international humanitarian law. I have also worked, interned and volunteered in those areas of law. My first law degree is from the University of Muenster (Germany). I am happy to pass on my knowledge of German scholarship opportunities. At Georgetown, I am also an LLM Advisor at the Georgetown Journal International Law and regularly participate in the gym classes on campus. In my free time, I enjoy cycling, running and walking around Washington DC.
Carolina Barroso Rodriguez is a legal professional with a decade of experience clerking at the Mexican Supreme Court and a specialized Appellate Court, focusing on Civil, Telecom, Antitrust, and Administrative Law. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Mexico and two master’s degrees in Constitutional Law and Justice. She is currently pursuing a General LL.M. at Georgetown University with a certificate in Technology, her areas of interest include emerging technologies, cross-border transactions, and civil rights, with a focus on strengthening the bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Mexico.
