LRAP funds cannot be used to bring a participant&#8217;s account status current.<\/p>\n<p>LRAP coverage will be provided only for loans borrowed to pay for credits earned within the students&#8217; degree requirements and must be loans certified by the Georgetown Law Office of Financial Aid. If your loans are consolidated under IDR with non-Georgetown Law federal loans, then these will be covered as well up to the standard 10-year payment on Georgetown Law federal loans.<\/p>\n<p>Your LRAP funding is for loans that are in a repayment status. It cannot be used to pay any student loan in a deferment or forbearance status.<\/p>\n<h2>Loan Repayment Schedules Used for LRAP Calculations<\/h2>\n<h3>Federal Direct Student Loans (including Direct Consolidation)<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Payments calculated under currently available Income Driven Repayment (IDR) plans (e.g, Income-Based Repayment (IBR) or Pay As You Earn (PAYE))<\/li>\n<li>Coverage for 120 maximum payments, or until PSLF is attained, whichever is less<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Bar Exam Preparation Loans<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Typically scheduled for 10-20 year repayment depending on lender<\/li>\n<li>Coverage for 120 maximum payments, or until PSLF is attained, whichever is less<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>For Legacy LRAP 2 Participants:<\/h3>\n<h4>Consolidated Federal Student Loans<\/h4>\n<p>15 year repayment under LRAP 2 (180 maximum payments).<\/p>\n<h4>Unconsolidated Fixed Interest Rate Federal Stafford or Grad PLUS Loans<\/h4>\n<p>25 year repayment under LRAP 2, but will be funded at 15 years so it will be paid off with any consolidated loan (180 maximum payments).<\/p>\n<h4>Commercial\/Bar Loans<\/h4>\n<p>Automatically scheduled for 15-20 year repayment depending on the lender, under LRAP 2 (180 maximum payments).<\/p>\n<h4>Federal Perkins Loans<\/h4>\n<p>Automatically scheduled for 10 year repayment if not consolidated, under LRAP 2 (120 maximum payments).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>If a graduate chooses to pay his or her federal loans on an accelerated timeline, LRAP eligibility will still be calculated based on the repayment schedules above.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JD graduates owing outstanding balances on their Georgetown University student account are not eligible to apply for LRAP funds until the balance owed is paid in full.
