Transfer applicants who have completed their first year at an ABA-accredited law school are eligible to apply to the second year class on a space available basis. Applicants may only apply if, by the time they matriculate, they will have taken only two semesters worth of classes. In rare circumstances, applicants who have completed 3 part-time semesters by the time they will matriculate, may apply.  Applicants who will have earned in excess of 35 credits by the time of matriculation into Georgetown Law are not eligible to apply as a transfer student. Students who will have earned 36 credit hours or more at the time of matriculation into Georgetown Law are eligible to apply as a Visiting Student.

Please be advised that the Law Center will accept for transfer a maximum of 31 semester hours of academic credit from an ABA-approved law school. Credit is not usually granted for law school courses beyond the first year. For more information about academic requirements for transfer students please review the Georgetown Law Student Handbook.

This past year we received over 500 applications for Fall 2015 transfer. To be competitive, students should be in the top 15% of their class with an A-/B+ average.
