Recognition Societies

Recognition societies honor and thank alumni, parents and friends who help advance the Law Center through generous financial support.  Society members enjoy a number of benefits, including invitations to members-only events and special university communications. For all societies, membership is determined by gifts in a fiscal year, which is from July 1 to June 30.

1789 Society

Donors who contribute $1 million or more to the university are members of the 1789 Society, named for the year in which the university was founded. They are honored for their extraordinary generosity at the spring semester faculty convocation.

Legacy Society

The Georgetown Legacy Society honors and celebrates donors who have included a gift for Georgetown in their estate plans. These gifts take many forms, including simple bequests by will, designations of retirement plan assets, life income gifts and more. Legacy donors may direct their gift to establish a named endowed fund at Georgetown, etching their family names in the history of Georgetown,  forever. LEARN MORE

Frank Hogan Society

Donors who contribute at least $5,000 annually to Georgetown University Law Center are members of this society, named for a 1902 graduate who gave back to Georgetown by teaching, helping build the law library collection and serving as president of the alumni association. LEARN MORE.

Loyalty Society

Donors who make a gift of any amount to Georgetown for two consecutive fiscal years are members of the Loyalty Society. Benefits increase as donors sustain their pattern of giving beyond two years. If you have missed a year of giving, you may donate through our Buyback Program to make up the years you missed. LEARN MORE.
