His research draws on history to inform questions arising in constitutional adjudication, with a current focus on the Religion Clauses and parental rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Earlier in his career, Colten clerked for the Honorable Allison Jones Rushing on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Honorable Lavenski Smith on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He also worked as an associate at Sullivan &amp; Cromwell LLP and continues to practice at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Colten holds his J.D., <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">summa cum laude<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, from Pepperdine, where he served as the Editor in Chief of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pepperdine Law Review<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and graduated valedictorian of his class.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colten Stanberry is the Managing Director of the Ken Starr Institute at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, where he teaches courses on Law and Religion.
