{"id":2,"date":"2024-01-17T17:46:46","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T17:46:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/denny-center-2\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2026-04-01T15:22:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T19:22:58","slug":"home-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/denny-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Home Page"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>Over the last 200 years, free market capitalism has proven itself as an unmatched engine for driving economic growth in the United States and around the world, yet big problems persist, including uneven economic opportunities, degradation of natural resources, and questions of corporate integrity when profits appear to be the sole motivator.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>The Denny Center\u2019s primary work is to evaluate the relative balance of economic performance and societal health and stability. We measure both business results and the needs of society, to highlight the tensions present in the existing system and search for potential solutions, especially those that consider all stakeholders and favor long-term measurements of success.<\/p>\r\n<p>To carry out its mission, the Denny Center pursues work in three areas:<\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Conducting and publishing research including the center\u2019s signature annual report analyzing the current health of democratic capitalism;<\/li>\r\n<li>Convening leading voices from business, government, academia, and society more broadly to discuss existing tensions and recommend new paths forward;<\/li>\r\n<li>Creating experiences to enrich student education, engage them in the center\u2019s work, and prepare them for lifelong contributions.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p>Working at the intersection of government and the economy, the Denny Center works to evaluate not only what parts of our economic system is working well and what needs improvement, but also potential solutions to ensure that the economy is serving society&#8217;s needs.
