James Feinerman, Faculty Chair<\/h2>\n

James and Catherine Denny Chair in Democratic Capitalism, and Counselor to the Dean<\/em><\/h3>\n

Professor Feinerman joined the Law Center faculty as a visiting professor for the 1985-86 academic year. Immediately after law school he studied in the People\u2019s Republic of China. Subsequently, he joined the New York firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell as a corporate associate. During 1982-83, Professor Feinerman was Fulbright Lecturer on Law at Peking University.<\/p>\n

In 1986, he was a Fulbright researcher in Japan. In 1989, he was awarded a MacArthur Foundation fellowship to study China\u2019s practice of international law. During the 1992-93 academic year, he was a Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.<\/p>\n

From 1993-95, on leave from the Law Center, Professor Feinerman was the Director of the Committee on Scholarly Communication with China. Professor Feinerman served as Editor-in-Chief of the ABA\u2019s China Law Reporter<\/em> from 1986-1998. Also, Professor Feinerman was the Co-editor of The Limits of the Rule of Law<\/em> in China (2001), and Co-Author of China After the WTO:What You Need to Know Now <\/em>(2001).<\/p>\n

Bruce R. Shaw, Executive Director<\/h2>\n

\"Bruce<\/p>\n

Bruce Shaw is the Executive Director of the Denny Center for Democratic Capitalism. Prior to joining Georgetown Law, Mr. Shaw served as Managing Director at FCLTGlobal, a not-for-profit that develops research and tools that encourage long-term investing and business decision-making.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Shaw began his career as a consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he focused on strategy and organization work for energy, transportation and technology clients. He joined Dallas-based Holly Corporation in 1997 and initially served the company in a number of business development roles.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2008, Bruce was named SVP and Chief Financial Officer for Holly\u2019s two public companies (Holly Corporation and Holly Energy Partners); from 2012 to 2016, he served as President of Holly Energy Partners (NYSE: HEP) and as a senior advisor to Holly Energy\u2019s parent company, HollyFrontier (NYSE: HFC).\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Shaw received his MBA at The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M. He completed an ALI Fellowship at Harvard in 2018 where his research focused on the foundations and future of capitalism.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelsey Harrison, Research Director<\/h2>\n

\"Kelsey<\/p>\n

Kelsey Harrison is the Research Director at the Denny Center for Democratic Capitalism. Ms. Harrison previously served as the Program Coordinator for both the Denny Center and the Center for Asian Law.<\/p>\n

She also has past experience supporting programmatic and research activities at the Georgetown University India Initiative. Prior to joining Georgetown, Ms. Harrison worked as a communications assistant with the World Bank\u2019s Development Impact Monitoring and Evaluation Analytics team.<\/p>\n

Ms. Harrison earned a master’s degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from Georgetown\u2019s School of Continuing Studies in 2021 and has a bachelor\u2019s degree in Science Technology and International Affairs with a concentration in Business, Growth, and Development from Georgetown University\u2019s Walsh School of Foreign Service.<\/p>\n

Leann Deckert, Senior Program Coordinator<\/h2>\n

Leann Deckert is the Senior Program Coordinator for both the Denny Center for Democratic Capitalism and the Center for Asian Law. She previously served as a Program Associate with the Georgetown Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues.<\/p>\n

Ms. Deckert earned a B.A. in Foreign Affairs & East Asian Studies from the University of Virginia and an LLM in international relations from Xiamen University. She recently graduated with a master’s degree in Applied Intelligence from the Georgetown School of Continuing Studies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
