The 2021 Trailblazers: AAPI Representation and Justice is APALSA’s yearly event to celebrate the milestones and achievements that the AAPI community has made in the legal industry over this past year. This year, we will be addressing the following issues. How can AAPI communities deal with anti-Asian racism and hate crimes worsened by COVID? What challenges must AAPI attorneys acknowledge and confront in their work for racial justice? Join us for an in-depth conversation on how to build stronger communities, promote equality, and develop allies in the 2021 landscape. The goal of Trailblazers is to facilitate discussions in matters that deeply concern the AAPI community, encouraging lawyers and law students to pursue their passions and make an impact. Our panelists include Ted Lieu (Representative for California’s 33rd congressional district), John Yang (President of Asian Americans Advancing Justice), and two attorneys from our platinum sponsor firms. Preceded by an opening speech from Mr. Ted Lieu, the panel will be moderated by Professor Erica Hashimoto and followed by a short Q&A session. In the end, there will be a networking session with participating attorneys and law students.
