{"id":4268,"date":"2020-03-24T12:05:14","date_gmt":"2020-03-24T16:05:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/?page_id=65335"},"modified":"2025-12-01T18:19:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T18:19:11","slug":"sample-of-our-projects","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/experiential-learning\/clinics\/our-clinics\/international-womens-human-rights-clinic\/sample-of-our-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Sample of Our Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IWHR Clinic students have proposed legislative solutions and initiated impact litigation to challenge existing laws, such as laws that deprive women of access to and control over land and property, laws that increase vulnerability of girls and women to HIV, and laws that undermine the rights of those living with HIV\/AIDS. Students have challenged laws that give husbands the lion\u2019s share of marital property and of property inherited through intestate succession or that deprive women of their share of the matrimonial property upon divorce. To date, Clinic students have challenged sex discriminatory laws in Botswana, Cameroon, Ghana, Guyana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Philippines, Poland, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
