Join the International Criminal Justice Initiative (ICJI) for a discussion on confronting conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) in Ukraine and other conflicts on April 15 from 1:30 to 2:45pm. Lunch will be provided.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moderated by Ambassador (Ret.) Clint Williamson, this event will bring together leading experts in international criminal law and CRSV to discuss accountability efforts, support to victims and witnesses, and what more can be done in this space.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amb. (Ret.) Clint Williamson currently serves as the Lead Coordinator of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA) for Ukraine and is the Senior Director for International Justice at Georgetown University. He previously served as the US Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues (2006-2009), leading US diplomatic and policy efforts to prevent and respond to mass atrocities and to further accountability for atrocity crimes globally.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Ingrid Elliott, MBE, is a Senior Fellow with ICJI and the ACA Prosecutions Coordinator for CRSV. A criminal investigator and prosecutor with over 25 years of experience across the Bosnia State Court and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), she has deployed more than 35 times with the UK Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Team of Experts. Dr. Elliott is the primary drafter of the Murad Code, shaping survivor-centered investigative standards and leading major efforts to address stigma in justice processes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Dermot Groome is a former senior prosecutor at the ICTY with more than a decade of experience prosecuting war crimes. He drafted the first genocide indictment against a sitting head of state, Slobodan Milo\u0161evi\u0107, and led multiple landmark trials, including the prosecution of Ratko Mladi\u0107, the Bosnian Serb army commander. Earlier in his career, he served in the Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office Sex Crimes Unit and worked on human rights issues around the world. He continues to shape the field through scholarship and his work with the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group for Ukraine (ACA).<\/span><\/p>\n
