Catherine Duval is a partner at litigation boutique Zuckerman Spaeder LLP and an Adjunct Professor of Law. Although she’s been described as a “top fixer” (by former Speaker of the House John Boehner), she prefers to consider herself a zealous, principled advocate for her clients. At Zuckerman, she advises law firms and attorneys on professional liability issues and counsels clients in high stakes litigation and government investigations.
Professor Duval led teams of lawyers responsible for investigations and oversight-related matters at two agencies in the Obama administration, first as counselor to the commissioner of the IRS and later at the U.S. Department of State in regard to Benghazi and email-related issues.
For several years, Professor Duval served as a Hearing Committee member for the District of Columbia Board of Professional Responsibility helping resolve attorney ethics and discipline cases.
Professor Duval is a Georgetown alum, having graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Liberal Studies. She graduated cum laude from Duke University School of Law and clerked for the Honorable Fred I. Parker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
