Nicholas J. Diamond is a member of the Policy Practice at Avalere Health, where he advises biopharmaceutical companies, health insurers, advocacy organizations, and private equity firms on the current health policy and regulatory environment.

In addition to teaching at the Law Center, he is concurrently: a Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Health Policy and Management at George Washington; and an Adjunct Fellow in the Center for Public Health Initiatives and an Associate Scholar in the Center for Global Health, both within the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. His research has appeared in law reviews, peer-reviewed journals, and popular media outlets. He has lectured in a variety of academic and non-academic settings, and appeared on a number of national news programs as an expert in public health law.

Before joining Avalere, Professor Diamond led market strategy in the healthcare and life sciences sectors at MarkLogic, a global technology company headquartered in Silicon Valley. Prior to MarkLogic, he held consulting roles at the MITRE Corporation and Booz Allen Hamilton, where in both instances he advised the U.S. government on policy and regulatory matters related to implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

Professor Diamond spent his undergraduate years at Georgetown, after which he received a law degree from Charleston Law, where he was a Presidential Scholar in conjunction with the Medical University of South Carolina, served on the editorial board of one of the School’s law journals, and was recognized for his pro bono legal service to the community. He also holds a master’s degree in bioethics (M.B.E.) from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a master of laws (LL.M.), with distinction and Dean’s List, in global health law from Georgetown Law, where he served as an Articles Editor and member of the Article Review Committee for The Food and Drug Law Journal.
