Deborah Golden is a staff attorney with the DC Prisoners’ Project of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. She was previously a staff attorney with the D.C. Prisoners’ Legal Services Project, which merged with the Lawyers’ Committee in 2006. Her practice focuses on litigation of constitutional claims on behalf of prisoners in federal and state courts in several jurisdictions. Before her prisoner human rights practice, Professor Golden received a Skadden Fellowship to work with the Appalachian Research and Defense Fund in Pikeville, Kentucky, handling a range of civil issues on behalf of victims of domestic violence. Professor Golden also serves as an active board member of the Coalition for Organ-Failure Solutions, a non-profit international health and human rights organization committed to combating the trafficking of humans for organs and ending the exploitation of the poor as a source of organ and tissue supplies. In 2011, she was named One of the Best LGBT Lawyers Under the Age of 40 by the National LGBT Bar Association.
