Michael Jones is a partner in the litigation department of the Washington, D.C. office of Kirkland & Ellis, LLP and he is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has tried cases and argued in a wide range of jurisdictions, including Baltimore, Maryland; New Orleans, Louisiana; Bisbee, Arizona; Queens, New York; Muskogee, Oklahoma; Blackburne County, Indiana; Oxford, Mississippi; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
Professor Jones has been featured in The National Law Journal's Defense Verdicts of the Year and in The American Lawyer's Big Suits section and Litigation Department of the Year. He authored several articles on trial practice, including “The Opening Statement: Coming Soon to a Theatre Near You”, “Litigator’s Oratory: Learn from Obama” and “Old Assumptions Die Hard”. His CD entitled, “Getting Juries to Listen: Creating Memorable Stories and Images,” is used as a teaching tool in a number of law schools.
Professor Jones was named a Leading Lawyer and was selected as one of the top 10 business litigation attorneys in Washington, D.C. by Legal Times. In addition, Professor Jones has been featured by The National Law Journal in its feature, “Winning: Successful Strategies From 10 of the Nation's Leading Litigators.”
Professor Jones served as law clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He was the Notes and Comments Editor for the Georgetown Law Journal.
