Krista deBoer is an adjunct faculty for the Negotiations Seminar. Professor deBoer is a practicing attorney at the San Diego office of Morrison & Foerster and a member of the firm’s Environmental team within the Mass Torts / Class Action practice group. Professor deBoer represents clients from a variety of private and public sectors in all phases of environmental and business litigation, administrative proceedings, enforcement defense, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactional matters. She has significant experience in CERCLA allocation and cost recovery, NRD assessment, contaminated site cleanup, hazardous materials and hazardous waste compliance, CEQA, Endangered Species Act litigation, and environmental torts.

In addition to advocating for clients, Professor deBoer is a mediator specializing in environmental and business disputes. She co-founded and is a Principal of the Cambridge Negotiation Institute, and has taught negotiation, advanced negotiation, and difficult conversations seminars to corporate, public, and nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and abroad, including through engagements with the Harvard Negotiation Institute.

Professor deBoer earned her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School, where her coursework centered on negotiation, dispute resolution, and environmental law and policy. While in law school, she was on the teaching teams for the Harvard Law School Negotiation Workshop and Harvard Negotiation Institute executive education program. She served as the president and founding member of the Harvard Food Law Society, was an editor of the Harvard Environmental Law Review, and was a Lecturer on Law at Boston College. Before law school, Professor deBoer spent a decade as a public educator, and she is still a credentialed teacher and administrator. Professor deBoer graduated magna cum laude and with honors from the University of Washington, and she earned an M.A. in Education from Antioch University, Seattle.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Professor deBoer practiced healthcare law at the firm of Doll Amir & Eley LLP in Los Angeles, and before that, practiced at the boutique environmental firm of Bick Law LLP in Newport Beach, California. Professor deBoer started her legal career as a litigation associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher where she was a member of Gibson’s General Litigation and Mass Tort & Environmental practice groups. Professor deBoer is a member of the State Bars of California, Washington and Oregon.
