Sara Marzal is a Legal Counsel at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), an organization of the World Bank Group and the leading global institution for the resolution of investment disputes through conciliation and arbitration proceedings. In this capacity, she serves as Secretary of tribunals and ad hoc committees in arbitration and annulment proceedings brought under the ICSID Convention, the ICSID Additional Facility Rules and the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. Prior to joining ICSID, she worked as an attorney at the international arbitration practice of the law firms Clifford Chance US LLP, Chadbourne & Parke LLP and Arnold & Porter LLP, in Washington, D.C., and in the litigation department of the Spanish firm Uría Menendez, in Barcelona. She also worked as a consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank’s International Trade and Integration Sector and clerked at the World Trade Organization Appellate Body Secretariat. Ms. Marzal holds degrees from Georgetown University Law Center (LL.M.) and ESADE (LL.M. and Law Degree). She is admitted to practice law in Spain and in the State of New York.
