Georgetown Law Open on Time
The Law Center will open on time FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 2015, but liberal leave is in effect. All designated emergency employees must report to work on time. All other employees may take unscheduled leave, but should contact their supervisor to discuss the needs of their unit and individual circumstances. Unless otherwise notified, classes will begin at their normal time. Instructional Continuity is in effect for the faculty members that wish to exercise it.

A.B., Dartmouth; J.D., Georgetown; LL.M. (Taxation), Georgetown. Professor Rizek is a Member in Caplin & Drysdale's Washington, D.C. office. In that capacity, he guides clients through IRS audits, prepares administrative claims and protests of IRS actions, and litigates tax and tax-related cases in U.S. district and appellate courts, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Tax Court.
Professor Rizek also has an extensive history of government service. Most recently, he was an Attorney-Advisor and Associate Tax Legislative Counsel with the U.S. Treasury Department, Office of Tax Legislative Counsel, from 1995-1998.
Professor Rizek regularly speaks to tax, legal, and other professionals on a variety of tax issues. He has presented speeches and served on panels for such organizations as the American Bar Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Tax Policy, Tax Executives Institute, and Federal Bar Association. Professor Rizek has also been a guest lecturer at George Washington University Law School, Georgetown University Law Center, and Widener University Law School. He is active in civic organizations in Anne Arundel County, Maryland where he resides, and he formerly served as Chairman of the Anne Arundel County Ethics Commission.
