Mari Sakai is a Ph.D. candidate at Georgetown University in the Department of Linguistics. Her academic interests include the cognitive processing of second language sounds, foreign accents, and pronunciation instruction. She received a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Masters degree in Education from the University of South Florida. Professor Sakai has been teaching adult learners of English in the college and university setting since 2008, and she joined the team of professors in the two-year LL.M. program in the Fall of 2016.
