The formal commitment to the Georgetown Health Justice Alliance started with a two-year grant from the George E. Richmond Foundation to address oral health disparities in Washington, D.C. Awarded to Dr. Lucile Adams-Campbell of the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center in January 2016. The Richmond Foundation grant included funding for medical-legal partnership activities at the Law Center and broader research and advocacy projects focused on oral health.

Current work under the grant focuses on increasing access to oral health care by children with disabilities and special health care needs, which is being undertaken by the Health Justice Alliance in collaboration with the Law Center’s Harrison Institute for Public Policy
