Their judges wield great power, but they work in what is often a political minefield. This event announced and discussed the result of the Ethica Project: 25 principles to secure the independence, impartiality, probity, and professionalism of international criminal judges.<\/p>\n<p>The event was sponsored by Georgetown Law\u2019s Human Rights Institute, its Center on Ethics and the Legal Profession, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/franceintheus.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"cx_external_link\"><span class=\"cx_external_hyperlink\">Embassy of France.<\/span><span class=\"visually_hide\">(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><span class=\"cx_external_icon\"><\/span><\/a> <strong>Stephen Rapp<\/strong> the Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues heading the Office of Global Criminal Justice at the U.S. Dept. of State from 2009\u20132015, delivered the keynote address via video. The panel discussion featured distinguished jurists, including <strong>Nicolas Guillou<\/strong>, international judge at the Specialized Chamber for Kosovo since 2019 and scientific coordinator of the Ethica Project. It was introduced by <strong>Di\u00e9go Colas<\/strong>, legal adviser at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
