Before joining HRI, Edie worked with a range of human rights and civil liberties organizations, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), where she supported civil litigation and conducted legal research on religious freedom claims.<\/p>\n<p>As part of HRI\u2019s Human Rights Advocacy in Action Practicum, she investigated arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance in Egypt, contributing to field-based legal analysis under the framework of international human rights treaties. She also supported migrant communities through her work at the Migrant Legal Action Program. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7009 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/human-rights-institute\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/08\/IMG_5686-175x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/human-rights-institute\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/08\/IMG_5686-175x300.jpeg 175w, https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/human-rights-institute\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/08\/IMG_5686-598x1024.jpeg 598w, https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/human-rights-institute\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/08\/IMG_5686-768x1315.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/human-rights-institute\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/08\/IMG_5686-500x856.jpeg 500w, https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/human-rights-institute\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/08\/IMG_5686-740x1267.jpeg 740w, https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/human-rights-institute\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/08\/IMG_5686.jpeg 841w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 175px) 100vw, 175px\" \/>Most recently, Edie served as a student attorney in Georgetown Law\u2019s Center for Applied Legal Studies (CALS), where she represented an asylum seeker in removal proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Edie earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in May 2025, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the <i>Georgetown Immigration Law Journal<\/i> and a participant in the Human Rights Associates Program. She also served as an NGO Observer at Guant\u00e1namo Bay through HRI\u2019s Guant\u00e1namo Observers Program. Edie received Georgetown Law\u2019s Pro Bono Pledge Recognition for completing over 50 hours of voluntary service in human rights and immigration law. With a background in education as a former English teacher in France, Edie is also excited to help carry out HRI\u2019s practicum programming and support law students in exploring their interests in human rights law.<\/p>\n<p>Edie is particularly passionate about accountability for atrocity crimes and hopes to pursue a career advancing justice for survivors of grave breaches of internationally-recognized human rights.
