Yeutter<\/strong> was a prominent U.S. trade and agricultural policy official who played a significant role in shaping U.S. trade policy during the development of the modern multilateral trading system. He served as Deputy Special Representative for Trade Negotiations from 1975 to 1977 and later as United States Trade Representative from 1985 to 1989, where he was closely involved in the launch and early years of the Uruguay Round. He subsequently served as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture from 1989 to 1991, bringing extensive experience in agricultural trade policy to the administration of President George H. W. Bush. Earlier, he held senior positions at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, including Assistant Secretary for International Affairs and Commodity Programs.
