John H. Jackson played the central role in founding and then leading the Institute of International Economic Law in 1999. Renowned as a man of integrity and concern for others, he was a valued mentor to generations of Georgetown Law students and to many on faculty.<\/p>\n
Prof. Jackson was especially known for his work on the Trade Act of 1974<\/a> and for creating the intellectual framework for what became the World Trade Organization<\/a>, including its dispute settlement process. His book World Trade and the Law of GATT<\/a> is considered a foundational text for trade law and policy specialists.<\/p>\n The Jackson Fund provides merit-based scholarships for students enrolled at the Law Center, with a preference given to Fellows in the Institute of International Economic Law.
