She aspires to work in the area of international commercial arbitration and international investment arbitration after graduation. She obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne Law School in December 2020. While in Australia, she was afforded the opportunity to clerk at Marque Lawyers in Sydney, assisting the litigation practice group. Following her clerkship, she held an internship with Lawyers Without Borders in Washington, D.C. Throughout her law degree, she participated in extra-curricular activities like the moot court, client interview, and was the International Student Liaison Director at the Global Law Students Association.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to her post graduate degree in law, she acquired her bachelor\u2019s degree in International Trade from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. During her time as an undergraduate student, she interned at various institutions, such as the United Nations Global Compact and the U.S. Department of Commerce. It was during this time that she developed a strong interest in business law. In her spare time, Mariam enjoys reading self-help books, listening to trade podcasts, expressing herself through still-life drawings, exploring the outdoors, enjoying the company of her family and friends, and a nice cup of morning coffee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mariam Kayani is currently pursuing the International Business and Economic Law LL.M at Georgetown University Law Center, where she is also applying her research skills as a graduate research assistant.
