These research lectures will provide more advanced legal research instruction in consultation with the requesting faculty member and will build upon the basic research strategies and tools covered in the first-year curriculum. Reference librarians present on subject-specific research areas (e.g., tax law, health law, environmental law, and music law), as well as specialized legal research instruction (e.g., legislative history and administrative law research), tips and tools for using electronic research databases, research in non-legal sources, and other advanced research techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty members interested in having a reference librarian visit their class should contact the <a href=\"mailto:lawlibinstruction@georgetown.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"cx_external_link\"><span class=\"cx_external_hyperlink\">library teaching staff<\/span><span class=\"visually_hide\">(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><span class=\"cx_external_icon\"><\/span><\/a> or 202-662-9140 for U.S. law or non-legal topics and the <a href=\"mailto:lawintlref@georgetown.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"cx_external_link\"><span class=\"cx_external_hyperlink\">foreign and international librarians<\/span><span class=\"visually_hide\">(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><span class=\"cx_external_icon\"><\/span><\/a> or 202-662-4195 for international and foreign law topics. We request at least 2 weeks&#8217; notice for guest research lecture requests. <\/p>\n<h2>Library Training for All Students<\/h2>\n<p>The library offers additional training open to all students throughout the academic year.<\/p>\n<p>Workshops include <a href=\"https:\/\/gtownlaw.li\/seminarpapers\">Research Strategies for Seminar Papers<\/a>, which covers tips and resources to help students select a topic, conduct a preemption check, and find books and articles for their research. This is offered during\u00a0the fall and spring semesters.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the library offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/gtownlaw.li\/preparetopracticeseries\">Prepare to Practice Series<\/a> for students to improve their legal research skills. This introduction to library services, resources and databases also covers best practices for planning, discovering and logging your research.<\/p>\n<p>The sessions will be:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Virtual (Zoom)<\/strong>: Friday February 6, 12:00 pm \u2013 1:00 pm<br \/>\n<strong>In-person<\/strong>: Wednesday February 11, 3:30 pm \u2013 4:30 pm in the Law Library\u2019s Computer Learning Center (CLC).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The same content will be covered in both sessions.
