Salma Samad is the Director of Development at the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law. Prior to joining the Institute, Salma's work focused on mobilizing resources, advocating for public policies and financing, and forming strategic cross sector partnerships to address public health challenges in developing countries. Serving as the Senior Director of Donor Relations at Aeras, a global health non-profit, Salma successfully secured funds from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Governments of US, UK, Netherlands and Australia, and other donors to support the research and development of new tuberculosis vaccines.

Prior to Aeras, Salma served as the Deputy Director of Development at Global Rights. She worked with Program Directors to successfully secure funding from foundations, governments and other donors for programs promoting human rights, access to justice, and rule of law in Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America as well as in the US.

Salma also served as the Resources Development Officer at the Population Institute where she secured funds from foundations and individual donors for reproductive health rights and sustainable development programs.
