A message to students regarding Commencement 2021 at Nationals Park

May 5, 2021

Dear Students,

We are excited to celebrate the Class of 2021 during Georgetown University’s Commencement ceremony at Nationals Park on Monday, May 24, 2021. As we have shared, there will be one ceremony for all graduate and professional programs at 5 p.m. EDT. The ceremony will be livestreamed for all graduating students, friends and family who cannot attend in person.

If you plan to attend Commencement in person, please request tickets via this form. Tickets must be requested by Monday, May 10, at 5 p.m. EDT.

If you are not planning to attend Commencement in person, please let us know by completing this one-click form.

Given capacity limitations, each graduating student attending the ceremony may request up to three total tickets (one ticket for the student, plus two tickets for guests).

Only graduating students who plan to attend Commencement may request tickets. Students may not request tickets on behalf of other students. Students may not request tickets to accommodate guests of other students. Tickets are not transferable. Students who improperly receive tickets from or request tickets for other students risk having all of their tickets forfeited. Your cooperation is deeply appreciated as it will allow Georgetown University to fairly and properly allocate tickets.

We are grateful for your support through this extraordinary and unprecedented process as we work to provide a memorable experience for our students and families.

Students who are attending will receive additional information via email closer to the date of the event, including details on accessing tickets, traveling to the ballpark, parking and entering the ballpark.

Additional details can be found on the Commencement website, which will continue to be updated as new information is available.

We look forward to celebrating with you on May 24! Hoya Saxa!

Dear graduating students,

With the move to host an in-person Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2021 at Nationals Park next month, we know there are a lot of questions about the event. We thank you for your patience as details come together, and want to take this opportunity to share what we do know now to help you and your friends and family plan for this special event.

There will be one ceremony for all graduate and professional programs at 5:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Nationals Park here in Washington, D.C. The ceremony is expected to take no longer than two hours and will be livestreamed.

The Graduate Commencement Ceremony at Nationals Park will recognize students from across Georgetown’s graduate and professional programs. While the ceremony will include many of the traditional elements of a formal academic ceremony, stadium rules and the timing within the baseball season do not allow for a traditional commencement stage or a procession of faculty and graduates. There will be numerous opportunities throughout the Park to take photos and connect with leadership from your individual school and program.

We are extremely grateful to the Washington Nationals for allowing Georgetown to use the Park on a day in between two Major League Baseball games. Unfortunately, in this context, it is not possible to build a stage on the field to create this aspect of the traditional ceremony and individual names will not be read during the event at Nationals Park.

University staff is developing the ticketing and registration process for Commencement with the Nationals organization, so please look for upcoming communications with additional details. Each graduate attending in-person is invited to bring up to two guests. All guests will be required to follow D.C. Travel Guidance. (Please note that D.C. may adjust its travel guidance at any time before Monday, May 24.)

In addition to this in-person ceremony, which will be livestreamed, we will premiere a virtual Georgetown Law Graduate Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday, May 25. Each graduating student will be recognized, including reading each graduating student’s name, accompanied by the student’s name and photo. It is critical that you submit your photo via MarchingOrder by Tuesday, May 4, for this recognition presentation. Please follow the instructions that have been emailed to you for your individual log-in link.

While we hope it will be possible for you to wear academic regalia to the ceremony, it is not required to participate. If you still wish to order regalia, please visit Jostens website.

Please continue to follow the University’s Commencement website and Frequently Asked Questions page, which will be updated as additional information becomes available.

Accommodation requests should be submitted using this form as soon as possible. A good-faith effort will be made to fulfill requests made after Monday, May 10.

Best,

The Georgetown Law Commencement Team
