The J.D. Diversity Careers team (lawdiversitycareers@georgetown.edu) provides support for students from historically underrepresented backgrounds by:
- Empowering individual students to discover their place in the legal profession;
- Expanding access to resources and opportunities;
- Connecting students to each other, alums, employers, and other mentors and other campus resources; and
- Providing space for students to navigate law school and explore their careers as their whole selves.
Our committee generally understands “historically underrepresented” to mean those who have not traditionally had full representation in the legal profession based on backgrounds related to their: race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation and /or identity, gender identity or expression, ability, and socioeconomic status. We also support first generation college graduates and those who may need to navigate the legal community differently because of their identity.
