The filing of a formal complaint may result in an investigation, hearing, and sanctions, consistent with the Law Center\u2019s published policies governing Title IX and other sexual misconduct complaints.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For more information on how to file a complaint under the Law Center\u2019s sexual misconduct grievance procedures, please refer to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/georgetown.app.box.com\/s\/syzimfl775mex2n2n8styv3u0ff3swcw\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Georgetown Law Student Handbook of Academic Policies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (page 138).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You are welcome to speak with the Law Center\u2019s SARVL or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Deputy Title IX Coordinator to learn more about the Law Center\u2019s formal complaint process and discuss options.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You also have the option to file no formal complaint at all. If you do not wish to file a formal complaint, you may still request supportive resources (housing modifications, academic modifications, work modifications, etc.) through <a href=\"svs6@georgetown.edu\">Sarah Stanley, the Law Center\u2019s SARVL<\/a>, or <a href=\"titleixlaw@georgetown.edu\">Lisa Curtis, the Law Center\u2019s Deputy Title IX Coordinator<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>File a Criminal Complaint<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>The Georgetown Law Department of Public Safety (DPS)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Confidential counselors and the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Deputy Title IX Coordinator<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for the Law Center are both available to assist students who choose to file an incident report with DPS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Georgetown Law Department of Public Safety (DPS): Call (202) 662-9325<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students may also report directly to MPD, which will investigate the incident. MPD\u2019s investigation may include, but is not limited to, conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and, depending on the nature of the complaint or incident, having a crime scene unit check for DNA at the scene. Please note that if a survivor wishes to pursue a criminal action, MPD must be notified. GUPD may assist in notifying MPD at the individual\u2019s request.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MPD Officers cannot provide <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/mpdc.dc.gov\/page\/keeping-yourself-safe-protection-orders\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">protection orders<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, as they are issued by a judge via the Domestic Violence Intake Centers. They can provide information about them.
