This prohibition includes discrimination against pregnant and parenting students.<\/p>\n<p>Students may request adjustments based on general pregnancy needs or accommodations based on a pregnancy-related condition. See below for more information on each process.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-types-of-adjustments-may-i-request\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Types of Adjustments May I Request?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Students may request a pregnancy adjustment.\u00a0 Specific adjustments will be handled on a case by case basis and will depend on medical need and\u00a0academic\u00a0requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Some examples include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a larger desk<\/li>\n<li>breaks during class, as needed<\/li>\n<li>permitting temporary access to elevators<\/li>\n<li>rescheduling tests or exams<\/li>\n<li>excusing absences due to pregnancy or related conditions<\/li>\n<li>submitting work after a deadline missed due to pregnancy or childbirth<\/li>\n<li>providing alternatives to make up missed work<\/li>\n<li>allowing excused absences for parenting students (both mothers and fathers) who need to take their children to doctors\u2019 appointments or to take care of their sick children<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"how-do-i-request-adjustments\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How Do I Request Adjustments?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Adjustment requests should be directed to the Law Center&#8217;s Deputy Title IX Coordinator listed below.\u00a0 The Title IX Coordinator will discuss the pregnant or parenting individual\u2019s needs, and may ask for documentation that supports the requested adjustments.<\/p>\n<p>Lisa Curtis<br \/>\nDeputy Title IX Coordinator<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">202-662-9803<\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"mailto:titleixlaw@georgetown.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"cx_external_link\"><span class=\"cx_external_hyperlink\">titleixlaw@georgetown.edu<\/span><span class=\"visually_hide\">(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><span class=\"cx_external_icon\"><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 id=\"how-do-i-request-accommodations-for-pregnancy-related-complications\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How Do I Request Accommodations for Pregnancy-Related Complications?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In certain situations, a student may be entitled to a reasonable accommodation due to a pregnancy-related condition.
