Kip has led investigations of atrocity crimes in conflict zones in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia, most recently as Investigation Team Leader for the United Nations Fact-Finding Mission on Libya. Previously, Kip served as senior counsel of the American Bar Association (ABA) Center for Human Rights in Washington, D.C., and was the founding director of the ABA’s International Criminal Court Project. Prior to that post, he was a prosecuting attorney in the Office of the Co-Prosecutors at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), and has done legal defense work and advised Judges at the U.N.-International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Kip serves as a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, on the Advisory Council of the Crimes Against Humanity Initiative, and on the Council of Advisors for the Global Institute for the Prevention of Aggression. He has written on a broad range of issues in the field of international criminal justice in publications around the world, including Foreign Affairs, Just Security, the Australian Journal of International Affairs, and the European Journal of International Law.
