Supreme Court Interpretation Lab

  • The Supreme Court Interpretation Lab adds empirical data and expertise to questions of legal interpretation, both constitutional and statutory.
  • Founded by an economist (Sukhatme), an empirical philosopher (Tobia), and two interpretation specialists (Nourse and Krishnakumar), the project seeks new ways to understand both the Supreme Court and interpretation.
  • What’s new about this? By scraping publicly available data, we have developed the largest existing database on constitutional and statutory interpretation, including treatises, from the Founding to today, including every case decided by the Court.
