This virtual program featured a conversation with Professor Jill Morrison (L’18), Executive Director of the Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellowship Program (WLPPFP) and the Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa (LAWA) fellowship program. A Visiting Professor and alumna of the WLPPFP program, Professor Morrison has led WLPPFP and LAWA since 2012.
LAWA trains women’s human rights lawyers from Africa who are committed to returning to their home countries in order to advance the status of women and girls throughout their careers. Under Morrison’s tenure, LAWA has welcomed students from an ever-increasing number of African countries, including Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
LAWA fellow Heather Chidarara (L’21) led the conversation with Professor Morrison. The program also included LAWA alumni and fellows. Opportunities for engagement and support of WLPPFP and LAWA were also covered.
