Nancy Y. Fortenberry holds a B.A. in Political Science, with Honors, from Jackson State University;a J.D. from the American University, Washington College of Law; and an LL.M., with a certificate in National Security Law, from the Georgetown University Law Center.

She completed the Senior Executive Fellows Program at the Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, and is a member of the Virginia Bar. Since January 2013, Ms. Fortenberry has been detailed to the White House where she served as Deputy Legal Advisor on the National Security Council staff, and currently serves as General Counsel to the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board.
