I have always been proud to be a GULC graduate.

I have always been proud to be a GULC graduate.

My time at GULC was different from everyone else’s. While in law school, I worked part-time on the Senate Watergate Committee staff. Then, with the help of several GULC classmates, I was elected national president of the ABA Law Student Division. With the permission of GULC Dean Adrian Fisher, I was allowed to live in Chicago and attend Loyola Law School for the 1974 fall semester. During that time, I created Juriscan, the ABA’s nationally-distributed employment service for law school grads.
After graduation, I was immediately hired as an attorney for the NC State Board of Education. I soon left that job to be the advance man for NC Governor Jim Hunt who was elected in 1976. Since then, I have practiced law continuously in Charlotte since 1977. Georgetown Law grads were rare in North Carolina in 1977. Happily for me, many more come to booming Charlotte now.

I have been a civil trial lawyer for most of my career. I finished my last trial in March 2025. I enjoy providing pro bono legal advice to anyone who calls, and many do call. I served on the Charlotte City Council. My wife, Lynn, and I have been married 41 years. Our two daughters have given us three grandchildren. We are healthy and blessed.

I look forward to the 50-year reunion of the GULC Class of 1975.

Since graduating from Georgetown Law School in 1990, I have had a 30+ year career in law and politics. After practicing law for a few years, I worked on Capitol Hill for US senator and then for President George W. Bush as the associate deputy Energy secretary at the Department of Energy. I then started my own international consulting firm where I represent clients on a variety of matters.

I can’t believe it has been 5 years since we all left for Spring Break and never came back!

I can’t believe it has been 5 years since we all left for Spring Break and never came back! I spent several months during the start of the pandemic volunteering as a cultural heritage law presenter for the American Red Cross. I then completed a clerkship with the DC Office of Administrative Hearings before moving to London for my LLM in Art Business and Law. When I returned from London, I worked on publishing my Masters thesis and found a job with the federal government at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in November 2022. I moved over to Department of the Navy in April 2024, where I practice environmental law. I also adopted a cat in 2020, who I named Styx (like the river).

Wow, I can't believe it has been 10 years since graduation!

Wow, I can't believe it has been 10 years since graduation! Since graduating I was fortunate enough to move to Mexico City (seeing some of you guys in the process) and be back to DC for a while (again, keeping in touch with some of you) and ultimately relocated to Madrid in 2020. I am now the in-house counsel for a video game focused US VC fund, with investments worldwide, but most importantly, the husband of my amazing wife and the father of two beautiful and extremely active daughters. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

I can't wait to see the family gather again for this next Reunion! Much has changed for us since our 10-year Reunion.

I can't wait to see the family gather again for this next Reunion! Much has changed for us since our 10-year Reunion. Our son was a year old, getting ready to join GLELC, and is now an elementary schooler. At the time, I was a nominee for the local courts and my wife was an associate at McGuireWoods. In the intervening time, my nomination expired, and I was ultimately re-nominated by a new President; Brandi was made a partner at McGuireWoods, and has since joined the partnership at another firm and rejoined McGuireWoods. I was confirmed and have been at my current court for three years. What has remained the same and was evidenced at my pandemic-delayed investiture ceremony, is the love of the family I joined at Georgetown Law. Hoya Saxa, I can't wait to see everyone.

Hi friends! I'm so looking forward to hearing how you've spent the past 20 years!

Hi friends! I'm so looking forward to hearing how you've spent the past 20 years!

I've been in San Francisco for most of that time--the most notable exception being about 3 years in Dallas during the pandemic to live near my wife's family. That was a special time for us, particularly for our two kids. We're back in San Francisco, where I'm a partner at Covington & Burling focusing insurance recovery litigation. I've been active in community organizations, including serving as board chair of the Asian Law Caucus, and currently serving on the board of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area.
