Letter from the Editor
The American Criminal Law Review is proud to present the Volume 62 Symposium Issue, Disability and the Criminal Legal System. Our Symposium aimed to promote conversation around an underrepresented, yet deeply important topic for many interacting with the criminal legal system. From police response, to pre-trial and post-release conditions, to prison accommodations, people with disabilities face unique challenges within the criminal legal system that require institutional safeguards to ensure people receive proper care. The Symposium and accompanying Issue aim to foster more dialogue surrounding the (often lacking) standard of care that people with disabilities receive while challenging preconceived notions about the criminal legal system. We hope this Issue inspires students, scholars, practitioners, and activists to create a more just world that provides proper care and accommodation to people with disabilities.
