Still a bit in denial that it’s been 20 years since we graduated!

Still a bit in denial that it’s been 20 years since we graduated! I live in DC with my husband, Scott, and my two daughters, Lauren (11) and Kate (8). I'm currently a Special Litigation Counsel in DOJ’s Civil Rights Division’s Appellate Section, where I brief and argue appeals of civil rights cases (primarily in the federal courts of appeals but I do some Supreme Court work as well). I’ve been in the Civil Rights Division on and off since 2008, with brief stints clerking on the Third Circuit and working in DOJ’s Office of Legal Policy. I’m also Adjunct Professor at George Washington University Law School, where I coach moot court teams in competitions dealing with civil rights, gender, and sexuality. Can’t wait to see everyone in October!

After litigating, lobbying, and leading in various positions, I pivoted in 2018 and built a legal tech startup, Justis Connection, which is the first Black attorney referral platform in the country.

After litigating, lobbying, and leading in various positions, I pivoted in 2018 and built a legal tech startup, Justis Connection, which is the first Black attorney referral platform in the country. I was recently named a Top Influential Woman in Legal Tech by the International Legal Technology Association, recognized as a Female Founder in Legal Tech by Law.com and awarded the 2023 Justice Champion by the Maryland State Bar Association. I’m excited to share Justis Connection is expanding to Georgia, New York and Florida this year, but I need your help. Please reach out to me at kisha@justisconnection.com to explore synergies and catch up. Oh and I’m also now mom to a 4 year old who has me learning the true meaning of juggling!
