Workers’ Rights Institute Research Assistant Shiva Sethi has won the Michael Weiner Scholarship for Labor Studies, which recognizes graduate and law students with a proven commitment to improving the lives of workers.

The scholarship is awarded by the Major League Baseball Players Trust, the charity foundation arm of the Major League Baseball Players Association, the union that represents MLB players.

In addition to financial support, the Players Trust provides resources and networking opportunities for scholarship alumni who remain connected as they continue in their educational and vocational journeys.

Shiva has been an invaluable member of the WRI team. He recently co-published with the Institute’s Director, Mark Gaston Pearce, on the Georgetown Journal of Poverty Law and Policy’s website on the NLRB’s treatment runaway shops and the Chipotle organizing drive.
