Dena Behnam received a B.S. in Media, Culture, and Communication with honors from New York University. At NYU, Dena learned how media shapes sociocultural values and interned on marketing-related teams at organizations like charity: water, Adobe, and the United Nations. Upon graduation, Dena returned to Adobe and saw the legal team establish an AI ethics framework and tackle content authenticity issues caused by deepfakes, which prompted her interest in pursuing a legal career.

As a Technology Law and Policy Scholar at Georgetown Law, Dena is interested in exploring legal solutions to concerns surrounding social media content moderation, internet standards, data privacy, and censorship. She is an active member of the Middle Eastern and North African Law Students Association and a Staff Editor of the Georgetown Law Technology Review. Dena was a 1L Diversity Scholar at Latham & Watkins in Menlo Park and a 1L Summer Associate at Meta. Currently, she is a Technology and Civil Liberties intern at the ACLU of Northern California.
