Class of 2024

Rasheed graduated from George Washington University in 2019 with a B.A. in International Affairs and a minor in Spanish Language & Literature. At GW, Rasheed concentrated his studies on security policy and international politics. While his studies focused on foreign affairs, Rasheed’s work experience drew him towards public policy. He interned with Volkswagen’s government affairs team at a pivotal moment for the company’s electric vehicle lineup and autonomous vehicle software – reconnecting him with a love of tech that was nurtured in his native New York City. Rasheed followed up this experience with an internship on Capitol Hill during his senior year where he learned the intricacies of the legislative process.

After completing his degree, Rasheed joined National Journal as a political research consultant. In this role, he focused on a broad portfolio of issues including health care, technology, and contract procurement. He created political messaging strategies for government affairs teams and developed profiles on key stakeholders at the local, state, and federal levels. The summer before law school, Rasheed was accepted to the SEO Law Fellowship, where he gained hands-on law firm experience, classroom training, and joined a community of diverse, first-generation attorneys.

Rasheed enrolled in Georgetown University Law Center with the intention of focusing his studies at the nexus of technology, law, and policy. He has made use of Washington D.C. to gain ample experience in the telecommunications regulatory arena. He has participated in the Federal Communications Bar Association’s Telecommunications, Media, and Technology Program; interned with the Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program; and served as a research assistant within the law school. Most recently, he worked at the Federal Communications Commission in the Office of Commissioner Geoffrey Starks, where he assisted staff in preparing briefing sheets, memos, and speeches. Rasheed is also a staff editor for the Georgetown Law Technology Review and a RISE mentor. Outside of the classroom, Rasheed enjoys travel, photography, and improving his mixology skills.
