A Seat at the Table: Creating Inclusive Tech Policy Organizations
The decisions we make in tech policy need to take into account potential adverse impacts on historically marginalized populations, including communities of color, the LGBTQ+ community, women, and immigrant communities.
It is important that these voices are adequately represented and elevated in these policy debates. Authors Gabrielle Rejouis and Alisa Valentin drafted this guide to help create diverse and inclusive tech policy organizations that advocate for and create tech policies that will empower these communities. This guide serves as a brief introduction on methods to advertise to underrepresented candidates, create relationships and opportunities for diverse candidates, and retain employees from diverse backgrounds. Although created with a focus on tech policy organizations, the tools apply to all workplaces.
