Linda Phiri HeadshotLinda Phiri, Ph.D., is a researcher in Criminal Justice and Criminology. Dr. Phiri’s work examines police organizations, police-community relations, police accountability, procedural justice, and race & ethnicity from a global and comparative perspective. She has presented papers at various conferences, such as the American Society of Criminology and the Law & Society Association. She is also an inaugural scholar in the American Society of Evidence-Based Policing program on applied Criminology & Data Management and has most recently completed a research fellowship at Arnold Ventures. Overall, she seeks to use research as a vehicle to inform evidence-based policy change and to positively transform marginalized communities, especially as it pertains to alternative first responses and community policing. Her interest in CICS was sparked by her search for an organization that equally values both research and programming in public safety. She also found that her drive to re-imagine a future with a smaller criminal legal system footprint, while collaborating with both the actors within the system and the communities most impacted aligns with CICS.
