On May 10, CAROLA hosted an online event, ‘Investment Arbitration in the Americas: The Emerging Issues,’ which focused on the book “Balancing the Protection of Foreign Investors and States Responses in the Post-Pandemic World,” co-edited by Prof. Yulia Levashova and Dr. Pascale Accaoui Lorfing, CAROLA faculty affiliates.
The book explores some of the most relevant issues in investor-State disputes, such as force majeure, national security interests, the fair and equitable treatment of investors, climate change challenges, and the impact of disruptive events such as the Covid-19 pandemic. The event included a panel discussion between Prof. Levashova, Dr. Lorfing, Ms. Hadia Hakim, Prof. Álvaro Galindo, and Prof. Nicolás Peronne. CAROLA’s Director, Prof. Álvaro Santos, moderated the panel discussion. The event was recorded and can be accessed on CAROLA’s youtube channel.
