Brief Bio

Dr. Mark D. Kielsgard is an Associate Professor of Law at City University of Hong Kong where he teaches criminal law, human rights law and other international law subjects. At City University, Dr. Kielsgard serves as the Director of the JD Programme and is the Associate Director and co-founder of the Centre for Public Law and Human Rights. He researches in the areas of domestic, comparative and international criminal law and human rights, particularly focusing on international criminal tribunals, counter-terrorism, and the crime of genocide. Prior to becoming an academic, Dr. Kielsgard was a trial attorney in the United States practicing mostly in the field of criminal law and appeals.
