At Louisiana State Penitentiary, a former plantation known as Angola, people are forced to do degrading, humiliating, and dangerous work similar to their enslaved ancestors.

The Promise of Justice Initiativeโ€™s (PJI) End Plantation Prisons campaign is an effort to break the link between antebellum slavery and prison today and to stop the commodification of people.

Please join the Oโ€™Neill Institute and PJI for a special screening of PJIโ€™s documentary, โ€œPlantations And Prisons, A History Of Forced Labor in Louisiana.โ€ The screening will be followed by an intimate discussion with the film director and the people featured in the film.
