Externships
By integrating classroom work with real-world experience, externships offer students the opportunity to see law in action while gaining a deeper understanding of how legal practice happens.
J.D. Externships
Through externships, students work under the direct supervision of an attorney to engage in the types of projects that would typically be given to an entry-level attorney. At Georgetown, our JD students are able to have this experience with the backdrop of some of our nation’s most interesting and complex institutions.
LL.M./M.L.T. Externships
The majority of LL.M. and M.L.T. students are eligible to participate in the Academic Externship Program. Foreign-trained graduate students may consider doing an externship during their second semester (which is usually the spring semester). Students in the Two-Year LL.M. program may participate during the second year of their program.
