Executive Director Elisa Massimino named one of DC’s Most Influential People

Elisa Massimino was recently named one of Washington DC’s 500 Most Influential People of 2023 by the Washingtonian. Professor Massimino was recognized for her work in pressing the Biden administration to deliver on its promise to put human rights at the center of American foreign policy, as well as on advocating to close Guantánamo and holding human rights abusers accountable.

HRI Faculty Advisor Rosa Brooks was also recognized in the same category for her twice-weekly podcast with foreign policy heavyweights and for co-founding the Leadership Council for Women in National Security.
