Georgetown Law offers many ways for students to learn about and get involved with human rights issues on campus.
Human Rights Associates Program
The Human Rights Associates Program (“HRAP”) is designed to introduce 1L students to the breadth of human rights law and practice, expose students to current human rights topics, and help students to navigate academic and career choices.
Asylum Advocacy Program
In response to the Trump administration’s separation of migrant families near the U.S.-Mexico border in 2018, the Human Rights Institute organized volunteer service trips to assist asylum-seeking families.
Guantanamo Observers Program
Since October 2014, the Human Rights Institute has partnered with the Center on National Security to send law students as official observers to the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
