The Human Rights Associates Program (“HRAP”) is designed to introduce 1L students to the breadth of human rights practice and institutions, expose students to a number of cutting-edge issues in human rights, and help students to navigate academic and career choices.

Detained Families Seeking Asylum

In response to the Trump administration’s separation of migrant families near the U.S.-Mexico border in 2018, the Human Rights Institute organized volunteer service trips to assist asylum-seeking families.

Guantanamo Observers Program

Since October 2014, the Human Rights Institute has partnered with the Center on National Security to send law students as official observers to the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
